Dina Gustin Baker is a painter dedicated to her own conceptual and abstract images of expression. Though tolerant of other directions in art, she continued her devotion to her own vision. For her, painting has always been a discovery of related feelings in terms of color, form, and movement. Her work is introverted but goes the emotional distance to joy. In her early years she had a thorough academic education which inspired her to develop the art of her own expression.Born in Philadelphia gave her the advantage to attend the Barnes Foundation and to know Dr. Barnes. After receiving an “out-of-town” scholarship to the Art Student League, she participated in many shows and continued to work in her own studio. Eventually, during this time, she exhibited in Germany at “Amerika Haus” in the cities of Hamburg, Munich and Regensburg. Becoming a member of the “Artist Club” gave her opportunity to know artists suchs as Adolph Gottlieb, Franz Kline and Dorothy Dehner and Louise Nevelson. The twenty-three one person shows has kept her totally committed to a sometimes frustrating but fulfilling life of an artist. She was married to two very different but loving and supportive men. Currently living in Florida with her studio at arms length, she continues to explore a life filled with hope and energy expressed in her paintings.
