Geoff Bromillow was borm in the middle
of the Indian ocean,on the SS Oronsay which was taking his parents and
two brothers to England. The family returned to Australia when he was two
and settled in Brighton,an Adelaide beach suburb. From 1974-76 he studied for a diploma in Fine Arts at the south Australian School of Art. After the Ash Wednesday bushfires in 1983 he developed a thriving business salvaging timber from burnt trees, exotic species brought to Australia from famous gardens such as Kew near London-by aristocratic English and Scottish families migrating to South Australia in the 1840's-1850's. They established these monuments to their home land- elaborate gardens of significant acreages,at the summit of Mt. Lofty'.Over the next decade he became a well known and respected purveyor of fine local timbers. |

Press release: Geoff Bromilow is currently preparing for his second exhibition at the Ezair Gallery in New York. Not for the faint-hearted, he chose to exhibit in New York because he saw it as a perfect opportunity to make his own philosophical statement about the environment. Bromilow's work stands in sharp contrast to the fast-paced glitzy hub of American capitalism which is New York. His pure forms speak to us of beauty inherent in nature and the need for human beings to treat what remains of our natural environment with great reverence. |

| Bromilow's essential philosophy is: If you sow beauty, you reap beauty. He believes that the greatest power we have in life is only what we can actualize at the very moment and often a future with any degree of certainty alludes us, though we have the power to determine our future by our attitude and our actions in the present. We have more knowledge and information than at any other time in history, and we must use it to transform our world into one where nature is respected at least as much as culture. | |

| Jeoff Bromilow's work pays homage to the feminine. His sensual wooden sculptures are a passionate testament to a love of the female form. Bromilow combines a refined aesthetic with master craftsmanship to produce astoundingly beautiful works of art. One's first impulse is to touch them; to let one's instincts and feelings be guided by their compelling eroticism. Trees which have been felled, cast aside, even burnt, become the raw material for his highly original object d'art. | |

Bromilow began sculpting in wood in 1995
after visiting his actor-derector brother,Mark in Paris. Paris was
inspiring. I loved the vast quantity of ornamentation in the architecture.
The work I've chosen throughout my life has given me a vast knowledge and understanding of wood, which allows me to work with it as opposed to inflicting my desire upon it. |
