Chaotic Expressionist

Maurice Cohen was brought up in the European tradition where he not only received an artistic education but was also surrounded with art objects at home, especially Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century Sèvres porcelain.  He was exposed to the different movements of painting.  He absorbed many cultures and landscapes during extensive travels.  Maurice is a scientist with degrees in mathematics and theoretical physics with over 250 scientific publications. Recent one-man exhibitions in Paris include in a gallery near the Pont Neuf in 2002, the Mairie of the IV arrondissement in 2003 and 2006 and the Mairie of the XVI arrondissement scheduled for April 2008.  His paintings have been shown at the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2006 and 2007 as honored artist at the Salon, the Salon Paris - Art en Capital at the Grand Palais in 2007, and the Salon of the Académie Internationale de l’Ecole de la Loire in 2007 where he was awarded the Grand Prix of the Conseil Général of the Loir-et-Cher.
